Business support programs

TTNQ is continuing to lobby for the wage support needed by the tourism industry to keep staff engaged with the businesses employing them. We encourage you to access whatever support is available to help your business. This includes:

Free HR support

Joint business support

Applications are open for the joint Queensland and Australian Government $600 million COVID-19 business support package, with tiered payments ranging from $10,000 to $30,000 based on payroll size for eligible businesses and not-for-profit organisations across Queensland. There is also a $1,000 one-off grant available for non-employing sole traders. Applications close on 16 November.

Regional grants

Business Basics (Round 2) Regional grants open on 31 August. The $5000 grant for eligible regional businesses can be used for training, website upgrades, professional advice, marketing services or specialised business support.

Support for workers

Financial support of up to $700 a week is available for individuals who have lost work or income as a result of the three-day Cairns and Yarrabah lockdown.

Rebates and tax relief

The Queensland Government has announced a $47.75 million support package to assist tourism and hospitality businesses impacted by lockdowns in Queensland and elsewhere. These include a range of rebates and tax relief.

Council rates relief

Ratepayers experiencing difficulty paying debts for rates and/or water usage charges because of COVID-19 can apply for support.

COVID-19 cleaning rebate

A cleaning rebate is available to small and medium-sized businesses and not-for-profit organisations that have been listed as an exposure site by Queensland Health.
