The exceptional business events capability of Cairns & Great Barrier Reef will be showcased at the Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME) next week with our largest contingent in years.
The Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef team led by Rosie Douglas will be joined by 12 industry partners in Melbourne on February 20-22 to highlight the rapidly expanding events capability of the destination.
They have much to talk about with a bumper year of international conferences including four prestigious events at the Cairns Convention Centre: the WONCA World Rural Health Conference in May, the 37th International Symposium on Forecasting in June, the International Conference on Photonic Electronic and Atomic Collisions in July, and the International Women & Law Enforcement Conference in September.
The Bai Sheng Kang Chinese corporation has announced Cairns & Great Barrier Reef as the incentive destination for its employee reward and educational program. It will bring 1000 people in two groups to the region in May and October 2017, with the itinerary including an educational visit to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures as well as activities incorporating the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics rainforest.
Interest in Cairns & Great Barrier Reef as a business event destination is growing in line with the surge in investment in tourism infrastructure for the region. Major projects like the $40 million Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort upgrade and the opening of Hemingway’s Brewery as part of the $85 million Reef Marina redevelopment in Port Douglas are ideal for this industry, while excitement is building for the opening of the Cairns Aquarium, the five-star refurbishment and expansion of the Tradewinds Esplanade and a second Hemingway’s Brewery at the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal.
Our destination is popular with professional conference and incentive organisers as our dual World Heritage areas of the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics Rainforest present diverse opportunities for creating an event to remember and they know they can rely on the support of a professional and cohesive business events industry. New infrastructure will provide even more reasons to choose Cairns & Great Barrier Reef for their next event.
Joining Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef at AIME will be Business Events Port Douglas, the Cairns Convention Centre, Hemingway’s Brewery, Independent Aviation, NQ Exhibitions, Pullman Cairns International, Pullman Reef Hotel Casino, Pullman Palm Cove and Pullman Port Douglas Sea Temple Resorts & Spas, QT Port Douglas, Raging Thunder, Roux Blond Collective and Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort.
Cheers
