Cairns & Great Barrier Reef had the largest contingent of operators at Tourism Australia’s Marketplace UK and Europe in London on 14-15 November which attracted more than 200 Australian tourism operators and buyers from Europe. The 23 Cairns & Great Barrier Reef representatives including TTNQ and Tourism Port Douglas Daintree also joined the Destination Australia showcase at Madame Tussauds where they met with 120 London travel agents.
Australia is still top of mind despite challenges with flight availability and prices and there was strong interest in the Daintree and the outback, while the Great Barrier Reef remains the top drawcard along with Sydney and Uluru. Sustainability and local products are important to their consumers. Booking lead times are stretching out now making it easier to plan itineraries and there is strong support for Singapore Airlines to fly to Cairns seven days a week.
