Tourism operators on the Cassowary Coast, Atherton Tablelands and Cape York Peninsula can access local workshops to learn how to prepare their product for the international market.
Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) Chief Executive Officer Pip Close said Parker Travel Collection Director Brock Parker would deliver the workshop to assist tourism businesses enhance their product to meet international market needs and engage better with the distribution networks.
“Attendees will learn what inbound tourism is, why it is important for small tourism businesses, the types of markets and their cultural influences, travel distribution systems, pricing and packaging, as well as entry level exporting sales calls and materials,” she said.
“Brock will draw on his experience with Parker Travel Collection which offers independent sales and marketing services of tourism products to the United Kingdom, North America and Australian markets.”
The training program consists of a half day workshop followed by two-hour individual mentoring sessions.
It will be held in Mission Beach on February 11 and 12, in Atherton on February 14 and 15, and in Cooktown on February 18 and 19.
The cost to attend the workshop is $20 per person and the mentoring session is $50 per business.
The Tourism Industry Business Capability Development Program is proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s Department of Innovation and Tourism Industry Development. The program was developed in consultation with Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), Tourism and Events Queensland and Regional Tourism Organisations.
