Small business workshops begin for 2017

MacDonnells Law will present information on getting the legal framework in place for small businesses on Tuesday 28th February from 3pm-5pm.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland Chief Executive Officer Alex de Waal said most small business operators were passionate about their work, but underestimated the time it could take to sort out the legal issues.

“The Small Business Legalities workshop will give them an advantage as the attendees will learn about business structures, negotiating contracts, the Privacy Act, succession planning, licensing, tenancy and credit management,” he said.

“While funding for a small business is often top of mind for business owners and there are many different sources where it can be obtained.

“The team at Grant Thornton will explore small business funding avenues and advise on how to apply for, prepare and present applications.

“The information can be used to write a grant application, a bank loan application or any other funding application.”

The Writing Funding Bids workshop will be held on Friday March 10 from 10am-12noon.

The workshops are part of the program supported by the Australian Small Business Advisory Services – Northern Australia Tourism Initiative, an Australian Government initiative.

The TNQ Tourism Small Business Development Program is for TTNQ member and non-member businesses (or start-ups) that receive a significant portion of revenue from tourism and have fewer than 20 full-time equivalent employees. Businesses and business intenders can participate in as many activities they would like.

Both workshops are just $20 per person and can be booked online. To book your workshop spot or for more information go to ttnq.org.au and click on Resources and then Small Business.
