It’s exciting to see so many TTNQ members proudly sharing their sustainability stories with guests, trade and industry. Thanks to the Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort, Small World Journeys, Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Cairns Airport who have submitted some great stories for this edition, about their sustainability initiatives within their business and the broader community.
In conversations across the region, I often hear how tricky it can feel to communicate sustainability efforts in a clear, honest and authentic way. In this newsletter, Dr Natasha Montesalvo from EarthCheck has shared a fantastic resource with members – the Sustainability Storytelling Guide for Tourism and Hospitality Operators. Created by EarthCheck in partnership with Tourism Australia, the guide walks operators through four simple steps – Audiences, Ambitions, Actions, and Amplification – to help shape sustainability story telling in a way that’s honest, impactful, and engaging for your visitors, teams and industry partners. It’s packed with real-world case studies (including a great one from Skyrail), easy templates and practical tips to help you get started.
I encourage you to explore it with your team to support creating stories and content that celebrates the wonderful work you’re already doing. A great first step? Share your story in an upcoming edition of the TTNQ Sustainability Leaders Group monthly newsletter. I’m very happy to chat, brainstorm ideas and help bring your story to life. Please contact me with any content ideas or stories you would like to share.
