Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) will entice businesses to join the tourism community with free entry-level membership.
TTNQ Chief Executive Officer Pip Close said one in six Cairns jobs depended on tourism so it was important to communicate to a broad section of the population about where the industry was heading.
“Mum and dad businesses who bake the bread eaten by visitors, create local art for markets and service tour and hire vehicles can now access TTNQ’s eCommunications to stay abreast of where the industry is heading by being a Friend of Tourism,” she said.
“Tourism businesses who are members of a Local Tourism Organisation (LTO) can also join TTNQ at no cost to become an Ambassador of Tourism.
“Those without LTO membership can become an Ambassador of Tourism for $250 which is almost half of last year’s price.
“This will encourage the many small tourism operators in the outlying regions of Tropical North Queensland to join their Regional Tourism Organisation and benefit from our resources.
“Restaurants and those in the sharing economy will find it a useful entry level for their business.
“To add value to this level of membership we have included a website listing for the first time on both our corporate and consumer websites to drive bookings to the listed business.
“Ambassadors of Tourism can attend TTNQ networking functions and industry events, have access to the image library, receive social media and digital sharing opportunities and are invited to participate in familiarisations.
“We have also introduced a new TTNQ member card with access to exclusive member-only offers.
“TTNQ’s top three levels of membership will be a Partner of Tourism (previously a Bronze member), Partner of Business Events (previously Silver) and Champion of Tourism (previously Platinum).
“These partnership levels of membership bring more business opportunities designed to elevate tourism products as signature Tropical North Queensland experiences.
“Among the new benefits for our partners will be inclusion in our new digital visitor information service and free membership with the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC).”
