Hainan increases New Year flights
Hainan Airlines has announced they will increase inbound traffic to Cairns during Chinese New Year by 50% to cater for strong passenger demand. This is welcome news in the current climate where Chinese airlines are reducing capacity into Australia with 4% fewer seats during 2019 compared to 2018.
TTNQ continues to work with Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) to market the region in China with TEQ currently celebrating ‘Queensland month’ in Chengdu, having launched a food and drink campaign ‘Taste the State’ encouraging Chinese visitors to experience our unique food experiences.
Our region hosted high-profile content creators from China last month, as part of GoPro’s global launch of the GoPro Max, who will share their images of Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef to a worldwide audience of five million people.
TEQ have also recently launched a family-focused campaign with Chinese agents, promoting the educational benefits of a Great Barrier Reef holiday. There is significant activity in the market to stimulate those high-value travellers to visit.
