Sustainability Leaders News – 12 June 2025

As this will be the final edition of the Sustainability Leaders monthly email under my coordination as I have come to the completion of my work on this project. I want to take a moment to sincerely thank each of you for your contributions to this group and to the broader sustainability journey in our region. Some of the real highlights for me have been the genuine collaboration and knowledge sharing across our industry, insightful site visits to your businesses and the incredible case studies in our destination showcasing innovation, leadership and action. Most of all, I’ve been inspired by the spirit of community and the shared commitment to a “greater good” that underpins this group.

It was wonderful to attend the TTNQ My Queensland Tourism Conference last week and listen in on the expertise and insights shared by Isaiah Creencia, Principal Technical Consultant at Environmental Resources Management (ERM), around sustainability and emissions data measurement, management and reporting. Isaiah provided practical and thoughtful information for businesses navigating this increasingly important space. He can be contacted directly at [email protected]. A big thanks to Trish Wadey from Cairns Adventure Group and Rod Cole-Clarke from Seville Mercy Centre, who generously shared their experiences of measuring and reporting data within their businesses.

I’m pleased to share that Harriet Ganfield from TTNQ will be continuing this important work and supporting the Sustainability Leaders Cluster Group moving forward.

Thank you again for your passion, engagement and efforts to support sustainability within our destination.
