Youth & Adventure marketing campaign launched

Diving, white water rafting, canyoning, sailing and hot air ballooning are part of a new campaign to entice the youth and adventure market north.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) and Tourism Whitsundays have collaborated on the Adventures Like These campaign to promote the diverse nature-based activities in Tropical North Queensland and The Whitsundays.

The Whitsundays activity has been launched and Tropical North Queensland activity will follow in January through to March to support the region’s shoulder season and highlight adventure activities while they are at their peak following the first burst of summer rain.

TTNQ Chief Executive Officer Mark Olsen said the campaign will include packages through trade partner Flight Centre encouraging exploration of the Great Barrier Reef and the world’s oldest rainforest.

“Digital editorial and social media will showcase the excitement of diving alongside coral gardens, rafting rainforest rivers and swimming underneath waterfalls,” he said.

“The youth and adventure segment has been heavily impacted by international border closures so we are hoping young Aussies will opt for an adventurous holiday along the Great Barrier Reef this year.”

Tourism Whitsundays CEO Rick Hamilton said the specially created overnight sailing itineraries also feature activities like yoga, meditation, diving, free diving, e-biking experiences and more.

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government under the Recovery for Regional Tourism program, an initiative of the $1 billion COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Fund, as well as funding from the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland.
