A group of German-speaking journalists and influencers visited the region in May for the first time in five years. TTNQ’s Europe media representative Peter Mierzwiak hosted a Singapore Airlines representative and five travel writers from Germany’s and Switzerland’s most popular travel magazines, newspapers and Sunday papers including Welt am Sonntag, the leading paper in Germany.
The famil will help to generate positive public awareness in Europe by enabling journalists and influencers to experience a product and region first hand. The seven-day media famil, organised by TTNQ in partnership with Singapore Airlines, was a huge success, with an action-packed itinerary that provided a taste of TNQ. The travel writers were treated to several Outback experiences, a full-day reef trip, wildlife encounters, rainforest experiences including a guided Indigenous walk through Mossman Gorge and sampled local produce at hosted lunches and dinners.
The international media were especially interested in marine conservation and citizen science and learnt about the strong sustainable focus of Port Douglas and Daintree which was the world’s first destination to be awarded Ecotourism Australia’s Eco Destination Certification. It’s anticipated the experiences and knowledge gained will inform massive media coverage in the months to come.
