Record number of AIME exhibitors for Cairns & Great Barrier Reef

Tourism Tropical North Queensland Director of Business and Tourism Events Rosie Douglas said the number of international conferences and incentives was increasing for the region on the back of a surge of investment in new and refurbished accommodation and tourism infrastructure.

“Following the $40 million Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort upgrade and the opening of Hemingway’s Brewery as part of the $85 million Reef Marina redevelopment in Port Douglas, a number of multi-million dollar investments are underway in Cairns,” she said.

“The Cairns Aquarium will open this year, the Tradewinds Esplanade will undergo a five-star refurbishment and a new inner city hotel will be built.

“In addition to this new infrastructure we have the dual World Heritage areas of the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics Rainforest, a rich Indigenous culture and unique wildlife which present diverse opportunities for creating an event to remember.

“Whether it is a conference for 2500 at the award-winning Cairns Convention Centre, a meeting at an international hotel in Cairns or Port Douglas or a gala dinner at a unique outdoor location, Cairns & Great Barrier Reef has the venue to meet the needs of any event.

“The Cairns & Great Barrier Reef destination is supported by a professional and cohesive business events industry which works together to ensure each meeting and incentive is given VIP status.”

Joining Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef at stand 2432 will be Business Events Port Douglas, the Cairns Convention Centre, Hemingway’s Brewery, Independent Aviation, NQ Exhibitions, Pullman Cairns International, Pullman Reef Hotel Casino, Pullman Palm Cove and Pullman Port Douglas Sea Temple Resorts & Spas, QT Port Douglas, Raging Thunder, Roux Blond Collective and Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort.
