Cairns will host Australia’s next incentive showcase, called Australia Next, in September 2024. The event replaces Dreamtime, which was held in Adelaide last week, and will be held each year until 2025 instead of biennially to help fast track the recovery of Australia’s business events industry. The news was well received at Dreamtime with the incentive planners excited about coming to Tropical North Queensland.
TTNQ’s Rosie Douglas and Natalie Johnson met with 25 incentive planners and 10 business events media from eastern and western markets who gave positive feedback on Cairns and how it combines well with a capital city program. Flight access remained the biggest challenge for planners.
Following the event, eight buyers, two media and two Tourism Australia representatives arrived in Cairns for a familiarisation which included the Great Barrier Reef, Mossman Gorge, the Cairns Convention Centre and offsite event spaces.
