Cairns & Great Barrier Reef is top of mind for our key inbound tour operators after a very successful ATEC Meeting Place in Cairns last week.
Hosting the first face-to-face Meeting Place since 2019 is quite a coup as we had more than 100 international buyers experience our tourism products and hospitality first hand and they were very excited to be here!
Cairns & Great Barrier Reef is a high priority for many of the buyers who were impressed with the new product offerings for the international market.
TTNQ’s General Manager of Marketing Lani Strathearn and Sales and Marketing Manager Harriet Ganfield had 56 appointments and said the need for forward rates for accommodation was a recurring theme.
The trade is struggling to sell the region for 2023 and 2024 as the delay in getting forward rates to share with agents means they are missing the booking by the time the price comes back.
The 450 Australian tourism operators and international buyers generated 1000 visitor nights and $1.5 million economic benefit for Tropical North Queensland through a familiarisation program, more than 4500 face-to-face meetings and a conference.
