CEO-Board Updates

June 2020 CEO Update

During the COVID-19 lock-down in April and May TTNQ’s marketing and digital activity reached more than 2 million Australians generating an advertising value equivalent of $4.3 million with a limited marketing spend.

Much of this came through our digital channels and the Drive North Queensland campaign. With the State now open to Queenslanders and the announcement of the opening of the State borders within sight TTNQ has moved into full swing campaign activity in South East Queensland and is at the ready for interstate marketing in July.

Tourism and Events Queensland has launched the ‘Queensland – You’re Good to Go’ campaign to drive intrastate tourism. Focusing on driving visitation during the June/July school holidays, the campaign will run across print, social, digital, radio, television and out-of-home advertising. Businesses will be able to display the Good to Go stamp if they have the required COVID Safe documentation.

Tourism operators need to demonstrate they are undertaking best practice as a COVID Safe business by completing a Statement of Compliance. The Queensland Government has released the approved COVID safe plan for industry to help businesses return to operation. In addition, QTIC has developed a free checklist for tourism businesses called the COVID Clean Practicing Business program which gives a downloadable and editable cleaning policy and risk register.

Remember to seek assistance if you need it to get through these tough times. Small businesses impacted financially by COVID-19 impacts can access free advice through the Rural Financial Counselling Service. Call Cam Charlton on 0418 773 737 or Susan Yeeles 0400 076 716.

Additional assistance can be found on the Tourism Tropical North Queensland website.

Cheers
